CABS Cricket is back with a BANG!!!!!!!!!!

It is the last year at coll..and the sole entertainer was back with a bang for the last year!!!!Yes, The first edition of CABS cricket for this season began in style today…

First of all, thanks to ADMIN and JONTY SINGH for making the first edition possible today…We desperately needed a ball to play and it was these 2 who didn mind to go all over to the store to get a ball…GREAT SPIRIT guys!!!!!

Now moving on to the play today, it was another day that belonged to the CABS team….we won both the matches played today…We had to miss some key players today because of certain well known reasons….Each team had 6 players and were given 10 overs…CABS team won the toss in the first match and elected to bat..and we went down straight away…we lost 2 wickets in 2 consecutive deliveries…thanks to great bowling by HARI WARNE….ADMIN jus couldn get off the mark…SLOPPER jus couldn chip into form..others followed suit…VASANTH LEE and VARUN SINGH couldn last long either..but their contributions were significant…And it was a great show of bowling from the WTF team…DRAVID,JONTY bowled pretty well while ul-haq and PATTU too joined the party with some good length deliveries…But the undisputed hero with the bat for the CABS batting was SRI WATSON.. He played some delightful strokes and lifted the innings single-handedly…it was a great show of determination …Thanks to his help and some pretty average fielding from the WTF side, we notched 36 runs on board….Then came the WTF fightback… MS PATTU and PRAVEEN-ul-haq led the charge…they built up a healthy 21 run partnership before PRAVEEN was removed…PATTU also faltered soon...DRAVID jus when he appeared to be dangerous missed to clinch to a delivery from SLOPPER and was caught at the slips by LEE…. Our bowling hero LEE didn fail today too…He was excellent with the ball today…WARNE showed some real spirit towards the end of their batting but couldn jus recover his team form the early fall down…CABS team ultimately won the match by a meager margin and registered the first win of the season…not to forget..the common wicket keeper SIMBU who played some good cricket for both the teams…

The second match: Lady luck was with the CABS team today.We won the toss again and again decided to bat..2 key players left the match…LEE and VARUN SINGH they were…SIMBU also left.So we had the match truncated to 5 overs a team…ADMIN failed yet again..he was dismissed for a duck for the 2^nd consecutive time…(he claims that it’s lucky for the team if he gets out for a duck!!!!!!!!!we know better!!!:-))we slowly put up some score on the board.. at the end of the 5 overs we scored 16 runs..thanks to some good play by SLOPPER…it was a good bowling and fielding effort from the WTF team..It seemed that it was gonna be a cakewalk for the WTF team..but it wasn’t to be!!DRAVID failed yet again..misjudging a ball and got out….PRAVEEN couldn last long this innings too…MS PATTU showed some resilience but that was short lived..When he was out he brought down with him the hopes of a WTF victory..ROOP and WARNE tried hard for their team to taste the first victory of the season…But the WTF team fell short once again with one ball to spare…WTF team would be keen to register their first victory of the season at the next outing..Good luck WTF team!!!

Now to the exciting part the post…The PERFORMERS of the day….As far as the batting is concerned, PATTU stupendous jus as usual…WATSON played a real gem of an innings in the first match..WARNE chipped in with some useful runs…ul-haq cannot be forgotten for his excellent work with the bat in the first match…Bowling was great too..LEE was the bowling hero of the day…Though DRAVID,WARNE,JONTY,ADMIN and SLOPPER came in with some good spells too…Fielding,hmmm..it was average on the whole…To my knowledge, JONTY misfielded for the first time today…he recovered soon, though…SLOPPER was good at fielding today…but we don have any immediate plans to rechristen him..The PLAYER of the day , besides, match winning contributions by LEE and WATSON, is HARI WARNE, for his all-round performances in both the matches…great work WARNIE!!!!

The Indian Cricket Team

The Indian cricket team is an international cricket team representing India. It is governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the cricket governing body in India. The Indian Cricket Team is currently the highest paid national sports team in the world (in terms of sponsorship).

Though the first match in India was recorded in 1721, when a group of sailors gathered to play in Western India, India's national cricket team didn't play their first Test match until 25 June 1932 at Lord's. They became the sixth team to play Test cricket. Traditionally much stronger at home than abroad, India proved weaker than Australia and England, winning only 35 of the 196 matches they played in their first fifty years. The team gained strength near the end of the 50-year period with the emergence of players such as Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev and the Indian spin quartet. The Indian team has continued to be highly ranked since then in Test cricket and One Day Internationals. The team won the Cricket World Cup in 1983 and was runners-up in 2003. It also won the first World Twenty20 in 2007. The current team contains many of the world's leading players, including Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble, who hold numerous cricketing world records.

As of January 2008, the Indian team has played 414 Test matches, winning 22.46%, losing 32.13% and drawing 45.41% of its games. The team is ranked second in the ICC Test Championship rankings and fourth in the ICC ODI Championship rankings.
