Match Notes and Score card: here

It was a fine test match. After a superb start, India lost their way but Sehwag's double ton ensured that India get to a respectable total. The Indian bowlers, led by Harbhajan Singh, pulled things in their favour by enabling India to take a first innings lead. Virender Sehwag continued with his form and he was supported by Gambhir in the second innings. After a bit of wobble, India managed to edge past the 300 run mark. It was never going to be easy to chase more than 300 runs on this wicket and Sri Lanka got trouble not from a spinner but from Ishant Sharma who led the attack in the initial part of the Sri Lankan second innings. He was then joined by Harbhajan Singh, who finished with 4 wickets in the second innings and 10 wickets in the match. It was very much a good all round performance by the Indians but they still need to crack the Mendis Code to convert this win into a series win.
